Going to Ireland from the UK is travel insurance really necessary???
Just visiting family in Ireland so I would think it is not really important, but I was just wondering if we should get it.

Is it required? Likely not. But if you want it depends on you and your level of risk acceptance.
If you don’t mind taking the risk of dealing with a bad situation as it happens, or don’t see any reason why you need to prepare, then you’ll probably be fine without it.
If it’s remarkably important that you have coverage in case the trip is interrupted, or if something goes wrong and someone gets ill, and you’re just the type to want to be safe and not sorry, then it might be a consideration.
