FlySafair expands its fleet for the summer season
FlySafair is gearing up for the busy summer season by increasing its capacity with the addition of two Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft.
This move is set to add 12-14 flights per day to the airline’s schedule, enhancing travel options for passengers during the peak holiday period.
“There’s no better time to prepare for the silly season than now,” said Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer. “And our passengers feel the same way, with bookings over December already rising. We perceive current market pricing to be irrationally high, meaning the peak periods need more capacity.”
While the airline has not yet specified the routes these new aircraft will serve, it is likely they will be used to boost capacity on South Africa’s Golden Triangle: Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban.
The first of these aircraft is expected to be added to FlySafair’s schedule in September, with the second joining the fleet in November.
Each Boeing 737-800 NG will contribute 189 seats per flight, bringing FlySafair’s total fleet to 36 aircraft. This increase in capacity aims to address the rising demand and potentially lower the high market prices during peak travel periods.
FlySafair’s strategic expansion comes in response to growing passenger demand, as holiday bookings for December are already on the rise.
By enhancing its fleet and increasing the number of daily flights, the airline aims to offer more travel options and improve availability for passengers.
