Actress Pamela Nomvete celebrates success in renewing her South African passport

After a frustrating journey to get her South African passport renewed, actress Pamela Nomvete’s plea has finally been heard, and she recently took to social media to share that it has been renewed.

Nomvete shared the exciting news of her passport renewal on Saturday, November 15.

“My friends, thank you all for all your support. The fight to get my South African passport renewed has finally been won! This was a long road for something so simple.”

The actress further stated that the struggle she faced should not be faced by any SA citizen holding dual citizenship.

“All South Africans who hold dual citizenship should not be punished for the cruel events that led us here in the first place.

“How vulnerable are all ordinary people when our fate is determined by authorities who have the power to threaten our safety and security,” she said.

The former “Generations” actress also thanked everyone who supported her and took a stand with her.

“Thank you for speaking out with me. It seems we were heard by Home Affairs in South Africa, and this is opening a dialogue at the government level to revisit a process that is clearly flawed.

“Thank you again for making a stand. Yet another confirmation that if we do not stand up for our human rights, no one else will. Thank you, South Africa, for leading the way. Wishing all people everywhere peace, safety and security for you and your loved ones,” she captioned her post.

Her passport victory comes after she took to social media in August, revealing that her passport had expired and she had not been able to renew because she was sent from pillar to post to produce documents from her late parents that she does not have.

She further shared that she is heartbroken because she cannot travel since her passport has expired, and she cannot even renew it.

“This year, my South African passport expired, and now I am trying to renew it. I am literally being told all over again to prove my South African citizenship and produce my late parents’ documents, namely, their birth certificates and ID documents.

“My parents are now on the ancestral plain, so I am not able to get these papers from them,” she said.
